Football

Football, known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the hands and arms, with the exception of the goalkeepers, who can use their hands within their designated area. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end.

Football is governed internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which organizes major competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. The sport is characterized by its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and skill, making it one of the most popular and widely played sports in the world. Matches are typically divided into two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with the team scoring the most goals declared the winner. In cases where the game ends in a draw, various rules may apply depending on the competition, including extra time or penalty shootouts. The sport is esteemed not only for its competitive nature but also for its ability to bring communities together and promote cultural exchange.
